Visual Culture has worked with Life Saving Victoria on a number of projects over the past few years from pre-recorded and in-person event videos, through to essential training video content. Another area of organisation that relies on effective video content is for recruitment.
Our task was to help produce a series of four member profile videos of various people in their roles with their local lifesaving clubs. The intention of these videos is to inspire like-minded people to find out more on how they can get involved and join this important industry.
Each of the four members were at different stages in their lifesaving journey, so it was best to tell their stories individually. We visited Fairhaven, Portsea, Mornington and Jan Juc for filming. Each day consisted of a voiceover recording of each story, instead of a sit down interview. We then captured relevant overlay footage in and around the club, even adding in old photos to the finished edits.
From those four initial 90 second videos, we then were able to creat over 100 pieces of content for different platforms. This included a variation in messaging for different audiences – ‘join now’ and ‘renew now’. We then created 30 second shorter versions, had these videos available with or without captions and then created vertical and horizontal video.
These days it’s no longer a case of producing one video for one platform, you need to consider many ways to attract viewers attention and ensure the video content best matches the platform.
